I CAN SEE!
I CAN SEE!
And the blind man said to him, “Rabbi, let me recover my sight.” And Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he recovered his sight and followed him on the way. —Mark 10:51-52
Blindness… we who can see cannot imagine what it would be like to be physically blind. But we remember what it was like when we were spiritually blind before knowing Jesus. It was Satan who had blinded us as he sought to keep us from not seeing “the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (II Corinthians 4:4). Just like the physically blind man mentioned above that could do nothing for himself to be healed from his blindness, so we too could do nothing to be healed from our spiritual blindness.
Jesus healed the physically blind man and had said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” So we see that this blind man had put his faith in Jesus. But we have to remember that even his faith is a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8-9). The blind man was tremendously blessed by Jesus for recovering his sight.
So too are we blessed. He gave us the faith to believe and He who said, “’Let light shine out of darkness’, made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (II Corinthians 4:6). So we too are tremendously blessed spiritually as “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed” (I Peter 2:24).
This blind man in the verses above was given his sight back by Jesus and he then followed Jesus. How true this is for all those who have received their spiritual sight back— we want to follow Jesus out of loving gratitude, not only for what He has done for us, but also for Who He is! Let us faithfully follow Him!
Thank you dear Father for the sight You have given me. Now, out of great gratitude may I faithfully follow You in whatever You want me to do and wherever You want me to go. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son. So be it!
