GOD IS OUR SUFFICIENCY AND SURPASSING POWER!

GOD IS OUR SUFFICIENCY AND SURPASSING POWER!

Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God, 6 –II Corinthians 3:5

But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. —II Corinthians 4:7

So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. —II Corinthians 4:16

We have no sufficiency in ourselves and no surpassing power in ourselves.  The sufficiency and surpassing power belongs to God and it is He who renews our inner being day by day.  Our outer being is wasting away.

Have you looked in the mirror lately?  We can see this “outer being” wasting away.  It is so “funny” the older we get to look at pictures of our youth.  Wow, that was me?  I look so different now.  How does the “outer being” waste away?  Less hair, fewer teeth, glasses, wrinkles, less energy, less strength, less endurance, hearing aids, memory… less, not more.  Truly, our “outer being is “wasting away.”  Now isn’t that a pleasant thought?  Well Adam was told after they sinned that “For dust you are, and to dust you shall return” (Genesis 3:19).  Dust, the outer man’s destiny!

But “our inner self is being renewed day by day.”  Just like the caterpillar in the cocoon goes through transformation (metamorphosis), so also we are being transformed by the renewing of our mind.  This renewing of the mind is a life-long process.  Our thinking and desires are more and more being transformed to be more like Jesus.  Instead of being conformed to this word we are being “conformed to the image of his Son” (Romans 8:29).

So brother and sister keep running “with endurance the race God has set before us.  We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2).  Yes, let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.  Our sufficiency is in Him, our surpassing power is in Him and our renewing, transformation and our conforming to Him is from Him!  Amen!  Keep going after Him!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-1fwZtKJSM

Dear Father I am overwhelmed with Your love for me, Your patience with me, Your compassion toward me and for Your companionship day by day and moment by moment.  May I be faithful to You in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.  So be it!
