GOD’S MESSAGE AND MESSENGERS OPPOSED

Therefore the LORD was angry with Amaziah and sent to him a prophet, who said to him, “Why have you sought the gods of a people who did not deliver their own people from your hand?”  But as he was speaking, the king said to him, “Have we made you a royal counselor? Stop! Why should you be struck down?” So the prophet stopped, but said, “I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.” 17 —II Chronicles 25:15-16

There are those in government who do not want to listen to the counsel of God’s spokesmen.  They desire to threaten those who speak for the Lord and silence them.  This may be their strategy, but in the end it will lead to their own destruction.

Why do people get angry with those who speak the Lord’s message?  It is because they want to follow their own gods— the gods of their own choosing.  They do not want to hear about our Lord God Almighty.  They do not want to hear about righteousness or the judgment to come because of sin.  They do not want to hear about the everlasting punishment of hell.  They do not want to bow their knee to our Savior, Jesus.  The purpose of wickedness is to silence the Truth (Romans 1:

Well, regardless of the opposition, let us get the gospel message out to those around us.  That is our responsibility.  It is the responsibility of those who hear the gospel to receive the gospel.  If they choose to reject it, it is sad, but it is their choice.  Let us expect that the Lord has those ready to receive the gospel or that will listen to the gospel.  We did!  May He draw them to Himself as He did us.  May we be bold in proclaiming the gospel.

Dear Father may I be faithful in proclaiming the gospel of Your Son in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.  May this be so when people are receptive as well as when they are not.
