GUARD YOUR HEART
GUARD YOUR HEART!
Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life. —Proverbs 4:23
Vigilance… to be watchful, to be cautious, to be attentive, to be observing, to be alert, to be aware… These are words that describe the action we are to take in keeping our heart so out of it will “flow the springs of life.” Be vigilant because “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise” (Proverbs 11:30). Guard our hearts so we will not be grieving (Ephesians 4:30) or quenching the Holy Spirit (I Thessalonians 519), but instead out of our hearts will flow “living water” (John 7:37-39). The fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22) will be evident in our lives as we “keep our heart with all vigilance.” Yes, as we guard our hearts we will be Spirit-filled trees bearing fruit for God’s glory.
Yes, keep your heart with all vigilance because “the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander” (Matthew 15:18-19). Brother and sister, if we are not keeping our heart with all vigilance then it is possible that these fleshly works will be in our lives (Galatians 5:16). Oh, may that not be the case!
What is flowing out of your heart? May we be keeping our hearts “with all vigilance so out of it will “flow the springs of life.” Yes, Dear Father may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. All for Your honor and glory. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vx65zb8AQpo
