May you see your children’s children! —Psalm 128:6

As a follower of Jesus it is so exciting to see my children having children.  But what a joy is must be to see your children’s children having children!  The Psalmist’s desire was that we might see our children’s children and that has happened for me and this brings me to rejoicing.  To be able to watch my grandchildren to grow and learn is incredibly satisfying.

We are told that “children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward” (Psalm 127:3).  It is the Lord who forms a child in the womb (Psalm 139:13) and has purpose for that child He forms (Psalm 22:9; Galatians 1:15).  So also our Lord has purpose for our own children, for their children’s children, for their children’s children’s children right to the end of time.

A great joy as well is to see your children following the Lord, then their children etc.  “I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents” (Luke 15:10).  It is exciting to have one’s own children following the Lord, but then to see their children following the Lord is wonderful as well.

Then to see one’s own children impacting other people for Jesus is tremendously joyful.  Oh that many would be drawn to Jesus through my own children and their children as well and then their children.  Yes and then may those spiritual children from each generation impact their peers for Jesus.  May it be so.

Dear Father there will be great rejoicing in heaven when we all arrive.  Until then, please work through my children to impact others for Jesus and then their children— physical and spiritual— all for Your honor and glory.  May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
