OUR LORD DESIGNED MOTHERS TO BE MOTHERS

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. —Psalm 127:3

            The fruit of a garden or orchard brings great joy.  How much more do children to their mothers?  When a child is born there is great joy.  Even before a child is born there is.  A mom to be has a baby shower given to her.  People come with gifts for the soon to be born baby that makes one a mother.  Presents are open by the mom to be for the baby to be.  There are ooohs and aaahs as gifts of clothing, blankets etc are opened.  Those who are already moms reminisce in their minds the days when this was their occurrence.  Yes, there is joy.

            Babies are a “heritage” or inheritance from the Lord.  Think about that.  A mom may say, “my baby” but the baby is really the Lord’s baby.  Just as Eve said, “With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man” so also moms need to recognize His Sovereignty over the birth of their baby, their motherhood.

            Just as the fruit of a garden or orchard brings forth fruit as the Lord’s reward in His design of how creation works, so also the fruit of a woman’s womb brings forth fruit as the Lord’s reward in His design of how creation works.

            Motherhood is God’s design.  Let us rejoice with moms today on Mother’s Day.  They are blessed by God to be mothers!

Dear Father Your design for mothers is a marvel.  May we be joyful for the motherhood that You created through the bearing of children.  Yes, You do this by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus..  We are grateful.
