HIS LOVE CAUSES ME TO SING AND PRAY
By day the Lord directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life. —Psalm 42:8
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. —John 3:16
Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God’s love was revealed among us: God sent His one and only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him. And love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is perfected in us. —I John 4:7-12
God loves you! It was out of love that Jesus came to this planet to take the penalty for our sins so that we might live through Jesus. Love was extended from God to us before we ever loved God” (I John 4:19). But now since we have known the love of God we are to be loving like He is.
We are to love each other and this love is from God. Jesus said, “A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so also you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another” (John 13:34-35). The way followers of Jesus love each other will be noticed by the unsaved world… or should be noticed by the unsaved world. This love light shining so “that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). Yes, this love will cause us to “Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us” (I Peter 2:12).
This love of God should put a song in our hearts and on our lips. It is astounding that He would even know my name and yet He loves me. My prayer: Dear Father I thank You for Your love to me and for me. I am so grateful for Your love and may Your love flow through me to others. I truly do love You and so look forward to being with Jesus forever. Now may I truly love my neighbor as You have commanded me to. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority Your Son Jesus.
