JUDGMENT
JUDGMENT
“Sharpen the arrows, take up the shields! The Lord has stirred up the kings of the Medes, because his purpose is to destroy Babylon. The Lord will take vengeance, vengeance for his temple. —Jeremiah 51:11
Prepare the nations for battle against her— the kings of the Medes, their governors and all their officials, and all the countries they rule. —Jeremiah 51:28
The Lord will destroy Babylon; he will silence her noisy din. Waves of enemies will rage like great waters; the roar of their voices will resound. A destroyer will come against Babylon; her warriors will be captured, and their bows will be broken. For the Lord is a God of retribution; he will repay in full. —Jeremiah 51:55-56
Let it be known that our Lord God Almighty is not a wishy washy, you’re ok I’m ok, anything goes, permissive God. Ah… no! He is a God of love that is holy and righteous. He is Savior and He is judge. What He says is to be obeyed. He is not an option. He is the Truth. He hates sin and “To fear the Lord is to hate evil” just as He hates “pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech” (Proverbs 8:13).
The Lord stirs up nations and moves nations to accomplish His desires. In the verses above He “stirred up the kings of the Medes, because his purpose is to destroy Babylon. The Lord will take vengeance, vengeance for his temple.” He is a God of judgment and “It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God” (Hebrews 10:31). He will repay evil whether it is bringing up one nation against another for judgment or at the final judgment where those who have not “called on the name of the Lord” will be cast into the lake of fire forever (Revelation 20:15). One day each of us will take our final step and cross the threshold of death. We will either step into glory with Jesus and experience “the joy of the Lord” or we will step into a place of judgment forever and ever in utter torment (Luke 16:19-31). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_Zep3-pOo4
No nation, no individual can stand against God or act against His purposes. His purposes will be carried out just as it was in the verses above. He is carrying out His desires today. Oh, that we may be lovingly obedient to Him and line up with His desires and not against them! It is a great comfort to know that He is in control of all things and can be trust fully even when our little minds don’t understand all He is doing. Take courage! Trust Him!
Dear Heavenly Father may it be so that I am about Your desires and not desires that are against You. May I live faithfully for You in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. May it be so!
