BEWARE!

BEWARE!

Do not quench the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil. —I Thessalonians 5:19-22

Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. —I John 4:1-3

But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. I do not think I am in the least inferior to those “super-apostles.” —II Corinthians 11:3-5

I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God’s curse! —Galatians 1:6-9

There were those who claimed to be “super-apostles” in Paul’s day and yet they had been deceived, led astray by Satan, had a different spirit other than the Holy Spirit, had a different perverted gospel of Christ and were throwing people into confusion. These are people who “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron” (I Timothy 4:1-2). All cults and false teachers have many things in common and one of them is that they claim to receive revelation from God that is equal to or higher than the Bible, God’s revealed Word to us.

Gene Robinson, the homosexual Episcopal Bishop believes this. I know because I talked to him about it. He said “God reveals on-going truth to us today” and apparently, from his perspective, God changed His mind on homosexuality being evil. Mormons, Jehovah witnesses and all cults as well as world religions have received “truth” beyond what God’s Word says. This all is demonic teaching and people run after false teachers and teaching because “people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths” (II Timothy 4:3-4).

Beware of false teachers, a false spirit, a false Jesus… “For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve” (II Corinthians 11:13-15).

Dear Father, thank You for Your Word that can be trusted fully and expose those who are in error. May I cling to what You say by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
