SO SMALL, SO LOVED!

SO SMALL, SO LOVED!

Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance? Who can fathom the Spirit of the Lord, or instruct the Lord as his counselor? Whom did the Lord consult to enlighten him, and who taught him the right way? Who was it that taught him knowledge, or showed him the path of understanding? Surely the nations are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales; he weighs the islands as though they were fine dust. Lebanon is not sufficient for altar fires, nor its animals enough for burnt offerings. Before him all the nations are as nothing; they are regarded by him as worthless and less than nothing. —Isaiah 40:12-17

Let us grab hold of who God is and how puny man is. Men who consider themselves great have no clue who He is. Ever try to hold water in the “hollow” of your hand? Not much stays there does it? Our Lord God Almighty has no problem holding all waters of the earth in the “hollow of His hand” and none escapes. Great minds among us try to measure the heavens and cannot do it. They are limited in ability. But God measures the heavens with the “breadth of His hand” and His ability is unlimited!

Who could ever even try to hold all “the dust of the earth in a basket?” Only God can. Who can ever measure all the mountains and hills of the earth “in a balance?” Again, only God can. Who can truly “fathom the Spirit of the Lord?” No man could ever even come close to fully understanding Him. Who is going to be Lord’s “counselor?” All people past, present and future combined would never be enough to instruct, enlighten or show our Lord any understanding! He is and has all eternal knowledge.

Have we begun to understand how small we really are and how awesomely immense our eternal God truly is? To Him all the nations of the earth “are like a drop in a bucket; they are regarded as dust on the scales” and all mankind is in that “drop” or in that “dust.” Compared to Him “all the nations are as nothing; they are regarded by Him as worthless and less than nothing.” We are so, so, so small. And yet… God loves us (Psalm 136). What???? Our hearts should overflow with joy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SJkkkMVtOI

Dear Father, I am so grateful that I can come to You at anytime and that You listen to me, You understand me and You have my best interests in mind. My puny brain cannot understand all that You are doing, but I know, I am 100% sure that I can trust You fully. Your glory is what is important and may You be pleased to work in and through me to show forth Your glory that others may come to know You and draw close to You. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
