BEAR WITNESS TO THE TRUTH

BEAR WITNESS TO THE TRUTH

Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.” “You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You say that I am a king. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” “What is truth?” retorted Pilate. With this he went out again to the Jews gathered there and said, “I find no basis for a charge against him. —John 18:36-38

“What is truth?” Pilate had responded when Jesus had said He “came into the world to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” Truth was standing right in front of him and he did not understand. He did acknowledge that he did not find any “basis for a charge against Him.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBKzCpkXJR4

Pilate… what kind of a man was he that he would knowingly have an innocent man executed. “While Pilate was sitting on the judge’s seat, his wife sent him this message: “Don’t have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him” (Matthew 27:19). Yet Pilate “released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified” (Matthew 27:26).

Pilate had taken “water and washed his hands in front of the crowd.” Then he had said, “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “It is your responsibility!” (Matthew 27:24). Was this the best he could do? Yet all this was in the plan of God. Jesus had told Pilate that “You would have no power over me if it were not given to you from above. Therefore the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin” (John 19:11). Yes, this was in God’s plan, but Pilate was still responsible for the part he took.

Just as Jesus was sent by His Father to bear witness to the Truth so we have also been sent by Jesus to do the same (John 17:18). When was the last time you or I bore witness to the Truth? That is one of Jesus’ greatest desires and commands for us (Acts 1:8). This is not optional. Have you and I made it optional? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X7jy3ToFRU

Dear Father, may I be faithful and share the Truth with other people that they may know Jesus as well. Be pleased to do this through my life by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. May it be so.
