BEWARE!
BEWARE!
“Be careful,” Jesus warned them. “Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod.” —Mark 8:15
How is it you don’t understand that I was not talking to you about bread? But be on your guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.” Then they understood that he was not telling them to guard against the yeast used in bread, but against the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees. —Matthew 16:11-12
Now here is an interesting warning! We are to “Be careful” and “Watch out” for the teaching of both religious and political groups. Everything needs to be measured by the Word of God… everything and everybody. What God has to say is what is most important. Our faith needs to rest on everything He has to say and it is our responsibility to make sure those teaching us have their teaching based on His Word. There are so many false teachers around these days. Let us be on guard. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkunT7BYCqw And we also need to watch out for those political groups that are white washed with a thin coat of Christian lingo to draw the unaware in.
One word added or taken away can change the meaning of a verse or passage drastically. Let’s just look at one well-known example. John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.” That is what God’s Word says. Now how does this differ? “In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was a god.” One word added and now Jesus is portrayed as totally and perversely different. Adding the “a” and the Jehovah Witness are clearly seen as false witnesses and heretical with a veneer of Christianity, but they are not Christian. It is unfortunate that so many are deceived and sucked into this group that preaches a different Jesus and a different gospel. Let us proclaim God’s Word boldly to whoever we can— “Faith comes by hearing…” (Romans 10:17).
Dear Father, may I share Your Word with those around me and beware of those teachings of both false religious groups and political groups. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
