Our dear friend and fellow worker. —Philemon 1:1

“For we are co-workers in God’s service” — I Corinthians 3:9; II Corinthians 1:24; 6:1; Philippians 4:3 III John 1:8

Is this true of you and me? Are we fellow workers with God’s people or are we off doing our own thing? God’s people labor together for the Truth & Jesus is the Truth. We are to be serving Him together.

So the question is: How am I honoring God by yielding to His Holy Spirit’s working through the giftedness God has given me to serve along with His people? If you and I cannot answer that question, then there is something wrong with the walk we claim we are walking!

It would be advisable that we take a good look at our relationship with Jesus because all service flows from that relationship with Him. Are we listening to Him? Does our heart yearn for Him and those things that are important to Him?

Remember… there are two great commands and not just one! The first has to do with our relationship with God— Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment” (Matthew 22:37-38). But there is a second command and Jesus said that the second command is like the first— “Love your neighbor as yourself” (v.39). We are to love God… and… we are to love people. It is not one or the other!

So first, how is your relationship with our Lord? The answer to that question will determine how you are loving people or not. How can we say we have a good relationship with Jesus if we do not love people? How can we say we are fulfilling the first command without being active in the second? Hmmmmm…

Dear Father, oh, that I would love You with my whole being and love people as You would have me love them. Please help me to serve in any capacity You desire of me. May it be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of the Name that is above all names— that of my King Jesus.
