THE LIFE AND LIGHT OF JESUS

THE LIFE AND LIGHT OF JESUS

Jesus replied, “My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in the darkness cannot see where they are going. Put your trust in the light while there is still time; then you will become children of the light.” —John 12:35-36

“In Jesus was life, and that life was the light of all mankind” (John 1:4). Without Jesus men walk in darkness—- they are “dead in (their) transgressions and sins… (following) the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient… gratifying the cravings of (their) flesh and following its desires and thoughts… by nature deserving of wrath” (Ephesians 2:1-3). Jesus is the life (John 14:6) offered to the world for sin (John 2:2) and He is the Light of the world (John 8:12) revealing the Truth that He is (John 14:6).

Walking through a cave years ago was a time that I put total trust in the light I was carrying. Without it I would be walking in pitch darkness not knowing where I was going or what was around me. There was a hole in the floor of that cave at one point and without the light I could have easily fallen through that hole into the underground river below and perished. All those without the Light will perish in Hell, but the gift of the Light, Jesus, is available to whoever calls on His Name (Romans 10:13).

It is sad to see people walking in darkness— the darkness of drug addiction, sexual addiction, money addiction, power addiction… These are deep holes in the darkness that swallow people up into death. As lights in this world (Matthew 5:14), knowing Jesus, we are to bring the Light to people who are in darkness that they might “come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will” (II Timothy 2:26). Yes, it is the devil who is holding people captive in the dungeons of darkness driving them to do the evil deeds of darkness (John 3:19; Ephesians 5:11). Let us bring the Light to them!

Brother and sister, praise God that we are in the Light! Now, let us bring that Light to others. May it be so Father, in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBKzCpkXJR4
