Disciple!

DISCIPLE!

After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the Lord or remember the mighty things he had done for Israel. —Judges 2:10

One generation is all it took for people to “not acknowledge the Lord or remember the mighty things he had done for Israel.” One generation! One generation who acknowledge the Lord and knew what He done apparently did not take the advice to “Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates, so that your days and the days of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth” (Deuteronomy 11:19-21). Discipleship did not take place from one generation to the next.

Let this be a lesson to us. How are we discipling the next generation? Who are you teaching your acknowledgement of the Lord in your daily life and how He has worked mighty things in your life? Are you doing this?

The Psalmist said, “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come” (Psalm 71:18). Is that our desire? “Tell it to your children, and let your children tell it to their children, and their children to the next generation” (Joel 1:3). That includes four generations. It reminds me of II Timothy 2:2— “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” That is four layers of impact.

I was talking with one of the guys at the State Prison that I have discipled and he told me how He shared the gospel with a Jehovah Witness for hours and that man came to the Lord and then that man share with a Muslim and that Muslim came to the Lord. Again, 4 layers… Now wouldn’t that be exciting if every believer had an impact like that with multiple people! Oh, may we be involved in reaching & teaching people about Jesus!

Dear Father, please help me to reach others for the Lord Jesus, disciple them and then see them to reach others and teach them as well. May it be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
