THE PRICE PAID!

“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” —Mark 10:45

“No one can redeem the life of another or give to God a ransom for them—the ransom for a life is costly, no payment is ever enough—so that they should live on forever and not see decay” (Psalm 49:7-9).

You put these two verses together and we find out something about Jesus. He is no mere man.

“They were now on the way up to Jerusalem, and Jesus was walking ahead of them. The disciples were filled with awe, and the people following behind were overwhelmed with fear. Taking the twelve disciples aside, Jesus once more began to describe everything that was about to happen to him. “Listen,” he said, “we’re going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be betrayed to the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. They will sentence him to die and hand him over to the Romans. They will mock him, spit on him, flog him with a whip, and kill him, but after three days he will rise again” (Mark 10:21-34).

The Son of Man, the Son of God, Savior Jesus was able to give the “ransom” for not just one man, but for all men (I John 2:2).

“For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose him as your ransom long before the world began, but he has now revealed him to you in these last days” (I Peter 1:18-20).

This is what sets Biblical Christianity apart for all other religious systems or professing Christian systems— it is no amount of works that we do that can ransom ourselves. We cannot ransom ourselves any more than any person can ransom us. Only Jesus, the eternal Son of God provided the way to be saved from our sin and to a relationship with God— it is only through Him. That is why Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). Indeed, “There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12).

Are you depending on the denomination you are a part of to save you? It cannot! Are you depending on your good works to save you? They cannot! Are you depending on you not being as bad as another person to save you? That won’t! Maybe you are thinking you are a good person and that will save you. That will not do it! Only trusting the finished work of Jesus on the cross, proving Himself to be the Eternal Son of God by His resurrection will save you from sin and to a relationship with Him by calling on His Name. That will do it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kC59rgmcu34
