Then Peter began to speak up. “We’ve given up everything to follow you,” he said. “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life. But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then.” —Mark 10:28-31

What have you given up to follow Jesus? Is there anything that you have intentionally given up for the sake of Jesus and for the sake of the Good News? Have you left home and family specifically for Jesus and the Good News? Has there been any time when you experienced persecution of any form for the sake of Jesus and the Good News?

Peter said they have “given up everything to follow you.” What does your following Jesus look like? Does your life or mine look any different in following Jesus than it did before we called on His Name? Oh, that it would be so. May we be shining testimonies of His!

Dear Father, may I shine for the Lord Jesus Christ today. May Your Holy Spirit guide me into what You desire of me for this day. So be it in the authority of Jesus.
