THE POWER OF GOD

“This is the finger of God!” —Exodus 8:19

God is powerful and that is all there is to it. His power is seen all around us and for those who deny His existence… well— “The fool says in his heart ‘There is no God”’ (Psalm 14:1). They are fools because “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world” (Psalm 19:1-4). They are without excuse— “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse” (Romans 1:20).

The magicians of Pharaoh’s court acknowledge the plague was none other than “the finger of God.” These people used deception to “copy” some of the plagues, but their deception could only go so far as humans and then it was found out to be no comparison to the power of God. They acknowledged this. Yes, this was “the finger of God.”

Dear fellow follower of Jesus… say nothing about his finger, we are safe in His hand! “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one” (John 10:28-30). Dear Father, I am grateful to know that I am fully secure in Your power because of trusting Your Son, Jesus.
