God created you and me for Himself, not to rebel against Him, but to be in fellowship with Him. We must cling to His Word and be obedient to be in fellowship with Him. “And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did” (I John 2:3-6). “This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin” (I John 1:5-7). May you and I have the sense to follow His commands. He truly has our best interests in mind.

Oh, that we would not go beyond what His Word says. There are those who bring in teaching that is not from God’s Word. According to the verses above when a person goes beyond what it written in God’s Word then they become a follower of the person that is promoting the unwritten teaching. This is a dangerous place to be and those who do it now become followers of man and not followers of God— even though they claim to be followers of God. They are following man’s teaching. Sincere followers of God will cling to His Word. It is what God says that is important, not man’s word. May we be lovingly obedient follows of our King Jesus!
