DO WHAT HE SAYS

Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.” —Luke 11:28

Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” —John 8:31-32

Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.” —John 14:21

“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise…” —Matthew 7:24

“Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’ —Matthew 7:21-23

And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. —I John 2:3-5

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXs3EYkCCVE&nohtml5=False “Trust and obey for there is no other way. To be happy in Jesus is to trust and obey” the song says. Many say they believe, but do they? Many say they are living for God, but are they? Saying is easy, obedience bears evidence. James says that “faith without works is dead” (James 2:26). According to Matthew 7:21-23 above there will be many who will say “Lord, Lord” but Jesus says “I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.” Our actions are to be in relationship with Him and in accordance to His Word.

Are you and I doing that? First we need to be reading or hearing God’s Word. It is impossible to put it into practice if we do not know what God is saying. We need to be listening to Him and then do what He says. Are we consistent in this?

What did He say to you today? Yesterday? Will you do what He said? Having conflict with someone that you will come into contact with today? How will you handle it? Your way or God’s way? May we be obedient to what He has to say whatever comes our way today.

Dear Father, please help me to apply Your Word to whatever situation I may find myself in today. May I do so in the authority of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit. May it be so!
