OUR GREAT PHYSICIAN
She thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” —Mark 5:28
When the woman realized that she could not stay hidden, she began to tremble and fell to her knees in front of him. The whole crowd heard her explain why she had touched him and that she had been immediately healed. “Daughter,” he said to her, “your faith has made you well. Go in peace.” —Luke 8:47-48
This woman who “suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding” believed that if she just touched Jesus she would be healed. Jesus said that her faith (in Him) had made her well. This woman knew without a doubt that she would be healed by just touching Jesus.
Surely this can be illustrative of when a person calls on the Lord Jesus for salvation (Romans 10:13). “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed” (Isaiah 53:5). “He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; ‘by his wounds you have been healed’” (I Peter 2:24). All the physical abuse that Jesus went through, before and at the cross, was so that we could be healed from the satanic snake bite of sin through the Savior’s atonement for us.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:8-10). By faith we call on His Name and by faith we are spiritually healed by His Name. What a marvelous work the Lord Jesus has done for us. Truly He is the Great Physician! By faith when a person calls on him to save them from sin and to a relationship with Him, He answers! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38EVco7eba0&index=30&list=PLcHqC9YNzSaD-O-rkP9o8hDA9jJ_oja4l
Dear Father, thank You for the spiritual healing You have given me through Jesus. Oh, to know He loved me so much that He was willing to take all that physical abuse so I could be saved from my sin. I am grateful and may I live out that gratitude for the rest of my life. May it be so in the authority of Jesus and by the Holy Spirit’s power.
