When Judas, who had betrayed him, realized that Jesus had been condemned to die, he was filled with remorse. So he took the thirty pieces of silver back to the leading priests and the elders. “I have sinned,” he declared, “for I have betrayed an innocent man.” “What do we care?” they retorted. “That’s your problem.” Then Judas threw the silver coins down in the Temple and went out and hanged himself. —Matthew 27:3-5
Callous people do not care about the “problems” of others. Judas was responsible for his actions, but so were the leading priests and elders. They did not care at all about Judas, but they used him to accomplish their desires. This is what Satan does— he uses people to accomplish his evil desires. He used Judas, the priests and elders in the scheme of betraying Jesus. Judas felt remorse. He knew he had betrayed the innocent Jesus. The very god of money that he desired in the betrayal scheme he now threw down in the temple in remorse. Then he went and hung himself. How sad that one who was so close to the Truth, Jesus, for so long and he ended up with remorse which led to hanging himself.
Fellow follower of Jesus, our strength comes from the joy of the Lord— “Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). Our hope is in the Lord (Psalm 33:20, 22; Jeremiah 14:22; II Thessalonians 2:16; I Timothy 1:1; I Peter 1:3). Yes our hope is in the Lord! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4UGws8RgBs&list=PLcHqC9YNzSaD-O-rkP9o8hDA9jJ_oja4l&index=6 Let us point others to that Hope— the only Hope this world has!
Dear Father, be please to help me point someone today to the only Hope they have — Jesus! May it be so!
