THE GREATEST GATE
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” —Matthew 7:13-14
I have heard people say, “Well, I don’t have much of a testimony.” What they are saying is that they were not involved in some gross lifestyle before they trusted the Lord Jesus. But, this is a wrong focus. Every person who has come to Jesus Christ has a powerful testimony because it is about coming through the narrow gate. Jesus is that Narrow Gate— “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved” (John 10:9).
Not only is it a wrong focus of thinking that they were not involved in some gross, but it is a misconception about what sin is. Do we really think a person involved in murder before they trusted Jesus is a worse off lost person than one who was a “good person” before they trusted Jesus? They are both lost! They are both headed to Hell!
See, it is the Gate that is the most important part of a person’s testimony. It is trusting the Lord Jesus Christ and all that means. Yes, it is true that I was once this, that or another, but now I am washed, sanctified and “justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God” (I Corinthians 6:11). That happened because I came through the Gate!
All other gates are the wide gate combined. The wide gate is every belief system outside of trusting the Lord Jesus Christ alone for salvation. This flies in the face of those who say all roads lead to the same place. It just is not so. Jesus was very exclusive when He said, “I am the gate or I am the way” (John 14:6).
Have you entered the Gate— Jesus? Then you are saved from what you once were to being a child of God! Rejoice! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZL0cjcLBYY
Dear Father, thank You that You drew me to the Gate of Jesus to walk through for salvation. I am grateful and not may I live the rest of my life to honor the Lord Jesus Christ out of that gratitude!
