HOMOSEXUALITY

Before they had gone to bed, all the men from every part of the city of Sodom—both young and old—surrounded the house. They called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? The arguments for homosexuality are so illogical and fraudulent. People can do what they want to do. I am not seeking to force my will on anyone. Just don’t seek to force your view on me. The view I take is from God’s Word. You can accept that or reject it and that is your choice, but I would rather depend on and trust in what God says over what man says.

I was setting in a meeting at our state capitol, Concord, last year when the LGBT group was seeking to have their “identity” added to the discrimination clause. The clause already reads a person cannot be discriminated against on the basis of sex, but they feel a real need to have their group be stated beyond what is already mention.

At one point a state representative on the committee made the statement that “he had done much reading going back over a hundred years and he couldn’t even find the word “homosexual” a little over a hundred years ago. He was trying to make the argument that this lifestyle was something new. What? This is the type of illogic I am talking about. People will go to great lengths to promote something they want. Sodom was a wicked place and God destroyed it for that wickedness (Jude 1:7). Sodom and Gomorrah are examples of how God will judge the ungodly in the future as stated in II Peter 2:6—“(God) condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly.”

Now, don’t think I am just picking out this particular sin as the only one God is going to judge. No, any person who has not trusted the Lord Jesus is going to be judged (Revelation 20:15). Any person who trusts Jesus will be forgiven. Here is a wonderful passage on this very truth— “Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God” (I Corinthians 6:9-11).

I meet with a former homosexual on a regular basis. This man has been changed by the Lord God Almighty and speaks clearly that he knew he was doing wrong and that the homosexual lifestyle is a choice. Praise God that he came out and is honoring the Lord Jesus as he serves him!

Dear Father, people can use all the illogical arguments they want to seek to justify their sin, but we cannot ever justify our sin before You. Thank You for forgiving me and thank You for the promise that all who come to Jesus sincerely will be forgiven. Praise be to Your Name!
