I Love Money More Than God…
Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you.” So we can say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper, so I will have no fear. What can mere people do to me?”c —Hebrews 13:5-6
Just remember that money is neutral. It is the LOVE of money that is evil. This is when money becomes more important than God. http://www.gotquestions.org/love-money-root-evil.html
We are to love the Lord as first priority and people as the second priority. These are two commands that we are given. The first, to love God, is the greatest command and the second is like it— to love our neighbor (Matthew 22:37-40). Our love for God is showing our faith in Him and our dependency on Him above all things. He will never fail us…never!
What does the love of money look like and the evil the love of money causes. Drug pushers do so for the love of money. This is evil and destroys multitudes of lives in both addiction and death. Then there are people who are “hit men” all for the love of money. People in high offices accept money for bribes because of their love for it. The list goes on and on… Indeed, “For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs” (I Timothy 6:10). All around us there is so much evil and sorrow because of people’s love for money.”
As followers of Jesus we are to be wise stewards in our use of money, but we are not to love it. We are to love God and people. May it be so in our lives… Remember, money is not evil. It is the LOVE of it!
Dear Father, please help me to wise in the use of the money You have given me to be a steward of. May this be done in the authority of Jesus and by the Holy Spirit’s guidance.
