Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see… And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. —Hebrews 11:1, 6

Faith… so many people want to believe or at least they express that faith is blind. Well this is absolutely false. People put faith into practice every day. For example, those who fly on a plane put their faith in many things and the biggest one is that the plane is going to get them to their destination. Why do they put their faith in this? It is because that is what the plane was designed to do and there is evidence that it will happen.

The definition for faith is given to us in Hebrews 11:1— “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.” And without this faith “it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6).” It is interesting that we read in Hebrews 11:3 that it is “By faith we understand that the entire universe was formed at God’s command, that what we now see did not come from anything that can be seen.” Don’t be surprised that many do not believe God created everything. A person has to have faith to understand this and yet there is plenty of evidence— “The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world” (Psalm 19:1-4). But there are those who “suppress the truth by their wickedness” even though “They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God” (Romans 1:18-20).

God has given us plenty of evidence, not only in creation, but He has also given us His Word (II Timothy 3:16-17) and “faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ” (Romans 10:17).

Multitudes have put their faith in airplanes as evidenced by the multitudes of airports and the amount of people flying on an hourly basis. How often have we looked up in the sky and seen planes overhead in the daytime and at night? Yes, there is a lot of faith being put into planes by so many because they expect that a plane will get them to their destination— that what they hope for will actually happen and they are assured of that even though they have not see the end result. Why? Because there is plenty of evidence for it.

Have you put your faith in Jesus? If so, rejoice because He has us on a pathway that leads home to Heaven. If you have not put your faith in Him, why not? There is plenty of evidence for doing so!

Thank You Father for the faith You have given me to be able to live for the Lord Jesus. May I do those things that are pleasing in Your sight for Your honor and glory!
