HEAVEN!
Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” —Revelation 21:1-4
He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.” —Revelation 21:6-8
Cemeteries flourish upon the earth as about 150,000 people die daily. There is much mourning that regularly occurs. Pools of tears sprinkle the ground as tremendous emotional pain is felt world-wide every day. You know the pain that I talk about. You have felt the heartache as loved ones and friends that you have known died.
Jesus came to free us from all that one day! He said, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:1-6). He is preparing a place for those who love Him to be with Him one day. I can’t wait to get there to be with Him and all who love Him and to never have to experience pain and sorrow again!
On the other hand, those who have not trusted Jesus which is seen by the fruit of their lives, they will be thrown into the “lake of fire” which is the 2nd death. This world is winding down. The end will come one day for this planet and then those who love Jesus will be with Him and those who don’t will be in hell. Why would anyone want to go there? Why would anyone not want to be saved from their sin to live with Him in heaven? Sadly, there are many who just don’t want anything to do with Jesus. How sad their end will be.
But, fellow follower of Jesus Christ, our home is in heaven with Jesus. Everything there will be perfect and beyond what we can even imagine. Live faithfully for Him now that you might hear those words from Him– “Well, done my good and faithful servant.” We have an eternity ahead of us. Wow… that is hard to grasp. But it is all possible because of our faith in Jesus.
Dear Father, thank You for what is ahead of us because of the wonderful love and work of Jesus. Oh, out of immense gratitude of our hearts, may we live a life that is pleasing to Him!
