THE GOSPEL: ACCEPTED OR REJECTED

Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.” —Luke 10:16

Have you heard this before when you were sharing the gospel with someone— “I’m all set” or “That’s good for you” or That’s what you believe” or I don’t believe in that stuff” or something of that kind? Someone has said, “Well, they are not rejecting you, they are rejecting the message.” That simply is not true according to this passage. Jesus said, “whoever rejects you rejects me…”

According to the passage above there is a progression: a person hears then makes a decision to accept or reject you, Jesus and the Father who sent Him. Hey, if the gospel and we get rejected, they are also rejecting the Son and the Father! We have a great responsibility in sharing the gospel, but we do not have the responsibility for the way the person hearing the gospel reacts. That is their responsibility. But, may we be faithful in the part the Lord has given us! May it be so.

Be pleased, Father, to work through me in sharing the gospel with others. May many respond and not reject the gospel, the good news about Jesus, but trust Him.
