BE STILL BEFORE HIM

BE STILL BEFORE HIM

The Lord GOD has given me the tongue of those who are taught, that I may know how to sustain with a word him who is weary. Morning by morning he awakens; he awakens my ear to hear as those who are taught. The Lord GOD has opened my ear, and I was not rebellious; I turned not backward. —Isaiah 50:4-5

We who follow Jesus have ample opportunity to be taught by Him and to serve others for Him. The questions are— Do I take advantage of this opportunity? Will I take advantage of this opportunity? Oh, to sit with the King of Glory! He teaches me so I can speak according to His Word. He teaches me so I can help the weary.

But how does this happen? When does this happen? First there is consistency in meeting with our Lord— “morning by morning he awakens” me.   Is He our first priority when we wake?   Do I long to sit at His feet first thing after my eyes open from a night’s rest? Am I setting Him as the first priority to be with, to listen to, to learn from and then to be obedient to?

It is He who causes my ear to hear what He desires. He is the Teacher with first place in my life. I desire that my ear is open to what He has to say and then to be obedient in applying what He has taught me. I do not want to be rebellious. I do not want to go backward in this “race He has marked out” for me (Hebrews 12:1-2). No!   My desire is to be taught by Him, to obey Him, to become more like Him and to encourage others toward Him. That is my desire!

Dear Father my desire is to hear You, to learn from You, to obey You and to encourage others toward Jesus my King. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son, Jesus. So be it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cu75ATYbufI
