GOD WORKS THROUGH WHOEVER HE DESIRES TO

GOD WORKS THROUGH WHOEVER HE DESIRES TO

Thus says the LORD to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have grasped, to subdue nations before him and to loose the belts of kings, to open doors before him that gates may not be closed:  “I will go before you and level the exalted places, I will break in pieces the doors of bronze and cut through the bars of iron,  I will give you the treasures of darkness and the hoards in secret places, that you may know that it is I, the LORD, the God of Israel, who call you by your name.  For the sake of my servant Jacob, and Israel my chosen, I call you by your name, I name you, though you do not know me.  I am the LORD, and there is no other, besides me there is no God; I equip you, though you do not know me,  that people may know, from the rising of the sun and from the west, that there is none besides me; I am the LORD, and there is no other.  I form light and create darkness, I make well-being and create calamity, I am the LORD, who does all these things. —Isaiah 45:1-7

Our Lord God Almighty works through anyone and everyone He desires to.  He said of Cyrus that:

  • he was His anointed
  • He grasped his right hand
  • He would subdue nations before him
  • He would open doors before him
  • He would level exalted places by him
  • he would know the God of Israel called him by name
  • he was called for the sake of Israel His chosen
  • he was called by name
  • he was named by the Lord
  • he did not know the Lord
  • he was equipped by the Lord

All this was the Lord’s doing with a King that did not know Him, but he would know that the Lord was doing these things through him.  God is always at work and He is working through the leaders of today’s world to accomplish His desires.  We can take great comfort in knowing that God is ultimately in control and He is accomplishing His purposes today, will accomplish them tomorrow and forever.  It is exciting that we are a part of what He is doing in this world.  May we be faithful in the part that our Creator of light and darkness, of well-being and calamity has called us to.  Yes, let us be faithful regardless of what is happening in our world.

Dear Father it is a great comfort to know that Your plans and purposes are being carried out today as they have been in the past and will be in the future.  Oh, that I would be faithful to what You have called me to by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.  So be it!
