ANCHORED!

ANCHORED!

Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. —Hebrews 6:17-20

—holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith. —I Timothy 1:19

Fellow follower of Jesus, you are an heir of God and a joint-heir with Jesus (Romans 8:17). God confirmed this and He cannot lie. “We who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.” What is this hope that we have as an anchor for our soul which is firm and secure? This hope “enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where our forerunner, Jesus, has entered on our behalf.” Our hope is in Jesus and all that He has accomplished on our behalf. How sure is this anchor for our soul? It is as sure as Jesus is Jesus!

I remember back in August or September of 1979 when I was in the military and station on the Island of Eluthera in the Bahamas. Four of us had gotten stranded on a boat two miles off shore in the dark. The waves were of hurricane force and about mid-night the anchor which had held us secure in place lost its hold and we began drifting out to sea. Fortunate for us it grabbed hold again and stopped our drifting. Who knows what would have happened if that anchor would not have taken hold and where we would have ended up.

Jesus and all He has accomplished for us is an anchor that will never let go… never! Nothing can sever us from our Anchor (Romans 8:37-39). Rejoice!

Dear Father, thank You for sending our Anchor to us. How grateful to know that I am held securely and forever by Him. Now, may I live in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son. So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvLxZEU02uI
