DO WHAT IS RIGHT

“Always think carefully before pronouncing judgment. Remember that you do not judge to please people but to please the Lord. He will be with you when you render the verdict in each case. Fear the Lord and judge with integrity, for the Lord our God does not tolerate perverted justice, partiality, or the taking of bribes.” —II Chronicles 19:6-7

“Perverted justice, partiality, or the taking of bribes” seems to be very normal in our fallen world and in this nation. Those who are wealthy and who are in power positions all too many times seek to take advantage of others. Many of those in government come to think they are the ultimate power and decision makers. They forget why they are in government office— to serve the people and not themselves. None of the corruption taking place goes unnoticed. The Lord God Almighty knows all about it and in His time He will judge it.

In Galatians 1:10 Paul says “Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.” Who are we trying to please? Whose approval are we looking for? God’s or man’s? Those who truly serve the Lord Jesus Christ are not people pleasers. No, instead they seek God’s approval above all. They seek to do those things that are pleasing in His sight (I John 3:22). May we who follow the Lord Jesus Christ seek to be and do what He desires, what He approves and not be men-pleasers…

Dear Father, may Your will be my will and may I not fall into the trap of seeking to please men above pleasing You. May this be so in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
