You want to know why our beloved America is experiencing the violence and evil it is? Remove the foundation from anything and the structure will be highly damaged or destroyed. It takes work to repair a foundation, but the structure will eventually be highly skewed or destroyed if it is not fixed. The family is the basic building foundation block of society and it is being greatly compromised. In the above verses from God’s Word we read about a mother and father needed to nurture children and children are to honor their mother and father. This is God’s design for the family and when that design is tampered with you will get dishonoring of authority at all levels. Evil will increase, life will not go well, many lives will be cut short, lives will be undisciplined and children will no longer be instructed in the Lord. We are reaping the harvest of our ungodly rebellion against God as a nation. Unless this nation repents, it will only get worse (Romans 1:18-32).
Let us, as followers of Jesus, bring up our children in the instruction of the Lord. This will be contrary to the world’s ideas, but that has always been the case. May many of our children impact people in this world for good and may many people be drawn to Jesus because of them. May we shine as lights for our Lord Jesus in this dark world. This is what we are called to do (Matthew 5:16; Philippians 2:15). The best is yet to come… home with Jesus in Heaven! Until then may we be faithful.
Dear Father, thank You for Your design of the family. May we encourage others to be faithful to Your design, faithful to their families and faithful to You. May it be so in the authority of Jesus and by the Holy Spirits power!
