OVERCOMERS!

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” —John 16:33

            Why do evil things happen in the world?  Children and adults being shot and murdered in schools, in churches, in shopping malls, in medical facilities, in war…  People are being attacked in broad daylight while others stand around and video it.  This surely is a sin sick world and a coldness of heart seems to be intensifying.

            Who sits around and plans a strategy to sexualize our school-aged children?  There are those in prison who are called sexual predators.  They groom their victims, sometimes for years.  Our government, school administrators and media have been and are grooming our children for sexual exploitation.  Predators of all sorts use social media to groom their victims and technology is reaching to the very youngest in our society.  Children with cell phones in strollers! —That is predation!  Big tech, big government, big education and big pseudo- science are all guilty of it.  Sexual immorality is a huge indicator of a societies’ mind going dark.  All kinds of perversions will manifest itself and our culture is and is being inundated with sexual perversions— turning what was designed by God for good and it is being turn into evil, wickedness!  

            Who is behind this evil corruption in our world?  People are quick to blame God, but people need to “come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will” (II Timothy 2:26).  There is where the evil comes from.  Satan has taken people captive to do his will.  He is a destroyer.  Satan seeks to destroy all that is good from God and pervert it.  People want to blame someone for evil, they should blame Satan.  And yet people are responsible for their choices as well.  Trouble is most people do not want to live for God and so they come under the will of Satan and are part of the kingdom of darkness.  We get what our choices lead us.

            Peace only comes in knowing Jesus.  He will bring this evil to an end in the future and at the rate wickedness is increasing it may not be that much further into the future!  Jesus told us we would have tribulation in this world.  In a fallen world that is in rebellion against God how can that not happen?  Knowing Jesus gives a peace that this world cannot give and a positive outlook because we know how this is going to end and we will be with Jesus forever.  Just as Jesus has overcome the world so all who put their trust in Him will overcome the world as well–

Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. —I John 1:1-5
