MY STRENGTH IS FROM GOD
MY STRENGTH IS FROM GOD
I am still as strong today as I was in the day that Moses sent me; my strength now is as my strength was then, for war and for going and coming. —Joshua 14:11
Caleb is now 85 years old and he was as strong at 85 years of age as he was at 40 years of age. Wow! God is the one who did this in his life. He is the one that has the number of our days— “Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away… Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:10, 12). “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak” (Isaiah 40:29). “Know that the LORD is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture’ (Psalm 100:3).
How long will we live? Only God knows, but we look around and we can see the averages. Glancing at an article on longevity I notice that men born in 1955 have an 11.7% “change” of reaching 100 years of age. Well I do not know when I will breathe my last breath. I am glad that is our Lord’s hands. But I do know this— I am getting closer to that time. It is so hard to believe that I will be 66 years of age this month of March of 2021. Wow! 66… where did all that time go? Wow! I will have been married to my faithful wife Elaine for 40 years this year! Wow! I have 7 grand-daughters… how can that be already?
Yes our lives are in His hands. He gives us strength, ability and all that we are. We are to be responsible stewards of what He has given us. One day we will appear before Him to give account. May we be faithful with His “property” He has given us to invest until He returns. That even includes the strength He has given us. How are we using it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pp1h1f9gK-Y
Dear Father I thank You for the life You have given me. I thank You for the very strength You have given me. May I be a faithful steward of all that You have given me. Please show me how to best accomplish that for Your glory in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son, Jesus. May it be so!
