THE FOCUS OF TRUST
Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish. He determines the number of the stars; he gives to all of them their names. —Psalm 147:4
Election year and what a strange/different year it has been since COVID19 became the focus world-wide. The political parties have lined up against each other like two teams on a football field. Players have their pads on, ready to take the blows or give them. Quarterbacks are strategizing how to move their teams into positive yardage and to win. Unfortunately there are some “players” that will play dirty and not according to the rules to gain yardage. But there is One Referee where no player can hide anything from. He sees all and nobody is getting away with anything. All will be held accountable by Judge Jesus when the clock of life hits zero time left.
Brother and sister, who are we ultimately putting our trust in? We are told clearly not to put our trust in rulers in whom there is no salvation. Salvation only comes from our Lord. Yes, as citizens in America we are responsible to do what our Lord wants us to do as citizens. But this is not just during an election, it is all year long for the rest of our lives. Leaders come and go, but our Lord “remains the same yesterday and today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8). His plans continue whereas worldly leader’s plans are in place only while they are in office. The next leader can implement the total opposite of their predecessor!
We, brother and sister, are blessed to have the help of our Lord. Our hope is in You Lord and You alone! You keep faith forever. You created all things and hold all things together. You determined the number of the stars and gave each one a name. We cannot even begin to name all the stars. They are wholly too numerous for our intelligence to comprehend. We can only estimate how many start there are! Wow! But You have names for them all. This is mind blowing for our tiny heads! All praise be to You!
Yes, I will trust in the Lord God Almighty and His ways. Even when I cannot understand I will trust Him. I will seek to do Your will as a citizen, but my ultimate trust is in You Lord, not in man.
