How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? —Acts 5:9

                       Are you and I being honest before God? In the case above when Ananias and Sapphira lied to Peter about the price of the sold land they were actually lying to God. This couple had agreed together to lie and Peter said they actually were lying to God and were testing His Holy Spirit!

                       So here is a challenge to you and I— Is there anything in our lives we are “lying” to men about? Well don’t we think God knows all about that? Who are we really lying against? Lying is against God! Lying does not have to be a verbalization. We can also be living a lie. An example of that is Achan as recorded in Joshua chapter 7. In this case Achan took spoil that he was prohibited by God from taking. He hid it in his tent. This act of living a lie actually cost the lives of 36 men lost in battle because of his lie and eventually, after he was found out, his whole family was executed because of his living a lie. Lying, whether we verbalize a lie or live a lie, is a very serious sin. How many think like that today. We had better know lying is serious to God! Men may not think so, but God does!

                       Let us live lives of truth and righteousness to bring honor and glory to our Lord God Almighty, Creator and Sustainer of all things.   Yes, dear Father, may this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus Your Son.
