GOD’S ANGEL SERVANTS
GOD’S ANGEL SERVANTS
When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. —II Kings 6:15-17
Angels… God doesn’t NEED them any more than God NEEDS us. God doesn’t NEED anything or anybody. His existence is not dependant on anything or anyone. Yes, He created us and loves us. And “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? (Hebrews 1:14). Yes, angels are God’s servants and they serve Him and those who believe in Him. Angels, us and “all things have been created through him and for him” (Colossians 1:16).
In the passage above Elisha is being hunted by the king of Syria. When he found out Elisha was in Dothan “he sent there horses and chariots and a great army, and they came by night and surrounded the city” (II Kings 6:14). The servant of Elisha rose early in the morning and saw the city surrounded by an army with horse and chariots. “And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” Then Elisha prayed and said, “O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha” (II Kings 6:15-17).
Wow, God has His angels serving those who know Him— those “who will inherit eternal salvation.” Only God knows how many times He has had angels involved in our lives to do His will. God has His servants helping to accomplish His will. Angels are involved in His plans and purposes and so are we. In the passage above the veil is drawn back so Elisha’s servant can see what is happening in the typically unseen world. Angels at work!
We are not to worship angels, but God alone (Exodus 20:1-6). Listen to what an angel said, “At this I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “Don’t do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your brothers and sisters who hold to the testimony of Jesus. Worship God!” (Revelation 19:10). But let us thank God for His angels and there service to Him and to us. “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it” (Hebrews 13:2). Let us be faithful in our service to our Lord God Almighty. The angels are! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOkImV2cJDg
Dear Father I thank You for these angel servants of Yours. May I also be a servant of Yours and carry out Your desires for my life. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. You have given me all I need. May I now be obedient to Your Word!
