PRAY!

PRAY!

Then He began to teach them and declare, “Is it not written: ‘My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations’ ? But you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’”

Jesus was upset because they had turned the temple into a place of commerce and He drove “out those who were buying and selling there. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those selling doves. And He would not allow anyone to carry merchandise through the temple courts” (Mark 11:15-16). The temple was to “be called a house of prayer for all the nations.”   But they had “made it ‘a den of robbers.” His actions and speech caused the chief priests and scribes to look “for a way to kill Him.”   But “they were afraid of Him, because the whole crowd was astonished at His teaching” (Mark 11:18).

The temple was to be a place of prayer, not commerce. Today we are the “temple of the Holy Spirit” (I Corinthians 6:19-20) and our temples should be “houses of prayer” as well. Prayer… are we talking and listening to our Lord regularly… throughout our days? And are out churches places of prayer?

What do we say? What will we do?

Dear Father please help me to come to you often throughout the day. I need Your guidance. I need You.   I cannot and do not want to live life on my own. My I live in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. So be it!
