You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I command you. —Deuteronomy 4:2

See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it. —Deuteronomy 12:32

Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar. —Proverbs 30:6

I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll. —Revelation 22:18-19

The command and warnings are clear in God’s Word— Don’t add to the Word of God and don’t take away from the Word of God. Those who do so will suffer the consequences.

This should really speak to us about sticking to what God says and not going off on some tangent of our own— teaching things that His Word does not say.   Woe to those who intentionally change God’s Word to lead many astray. Their punishment will be severe!

Let us listen to what God says and then do what God says. Oh that we would be the type of people that He desires.   May we be the hearers and doers of His Word. May we sit as His feet and listen.

What has He said to you today? Will you be and do what He has said to you… today?

May it be so Father in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son. Today, at the prison, may Your Word transform lives. May Your Word impact many for the rest of their lives. May it be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and Jesus’ authority.   Yes, may it be so.
