HE IS ALWAYS WORKING!

HE IS ALWAYS WORKING!

“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.  I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”  —Genesis 12:2-3

He took him outside and said, “Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”  Abram believed the Lord, and he credited it to him as righteousness.  —Genesis 15:5-6

On that day the Lord made a covenant with Abram and said, “To your descendants I give this land, from the Wadi of Egypt to the great river, the Euphrates— —Genesis 15:18

In the beginning when God created He said of His creation that it was “good” (Genesis 1:4, 10, 12, 18, 21, 25) and of all that He created it was “very good” (Genesis 1:31).  Then evil entered through Adam & Eve’s sin and there were consequences: work would now be difficult, there would be much pain in childbearing, there would be conflict among God’s seed and the serpent’s seed and the first couple were kick out of the Garden (Genesis 3).  But, there was the promised Deliverer who would set things right (Genesis 3:15).

There was conflict with Cain and Abel to the point where Cain killed his brother.  Cain killed Abel because Cain “belonged to the evil one… And why did he murder him? Because his own actions were evil and his brother’s were righteous” (I John 3:12).  Centuries later the problem of evil in the world was so bad “the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great upon the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was altogether evil all the time. And the LORD regretted that He had made man on the earth, and it grieved Him in His heart. So the LORD said, “I will blot out man, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—every man and beast and crawling creature and bird of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them” (Genesis 6:5-7).  And so, God flooded the whole earth.   Only Noah, his wife, his 3 sons and their wives and the animals on the ark survived.  God promised that “Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. And whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of every kind that is on the earth” (Genesis 9:14-16).

Did man learn his lesson?  Centuries later instead of spreading out over the earth as God commanded the people said, “Come,” they said, “let us build for ourselves a city with a tower that reaches to the heavens, that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of all the earth” and God judge them by confusing their language (Genesis 11:4, 7).

So then God chose Abraham and made a covenant with him and Abraham believed what God said and it was “counted to him as righteousness.”  His offspring would be many and the nations of the earth would be blessed through him as the Messiah would come through his lineage.  Jesus did come and now the nations of the earth are being blessed because “you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light” (I Peter 2:9).  Let us do so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IuuLBPOYcI8
