THEY DO NOT KNOW…

After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel. —Judges 2:10

As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out—the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.” Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. —Luke 7:12-15

I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” (All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus’ words, acknowledged that God’s way was right, because they had been baptized by John. But the Pharisees and the experts in the law rejected God’s purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.) —Luke 7:28-30

As in Judges 2:20 there are those all around us who “grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel” or what He has done for us. They do not know the power of God and to a large degree have “rejected God’s purpose for themselves.” How sad this is.

I was listening to a radio program as I was riding along yesterday. They were having one of those “man on the street” interviews and were asking people what Easter was all about. The most popular answer was “eggs and bunnies.” One guy said, “It is about Jesus too, but He doesn’t get any air time. We are brainwashed with the eggs and bunnies.” I have always thought that if you want to control a populace then just manipulate them through the media. That happens today in so many ways. I do not take counsel from the media…

I am grateful for what Jesus has done for me and for so many others… It is exciting to see Him transform lives… That is what is most important!
