OBEDIENCE & BLESSING
OBEDIENCE & BLESSING
Keep all my decrees and laws and follow them, so that the land where I am bringing you to live may not vomit you out. —Leviticus 20:22
If there is one key word in the life of the believer it is obedience. This was true under the Old Covenant and it is true under the New Covenant. It was true for the Jewish believer and it is true for the Gentile believer. Without obedience to the Lord God Almighty we are living for ourselves and our desires, not His.
In the verse above the warning for disobedience was they would be “vomited” out of the land. Because of disobedience it was less than 1000 years later that this took place with Israel in the North. In 772 BC the Assyrians scattered that part of the nation and they were no more a nation. Then in 586 the Southern part of the nation, Judah, was taken into captivity by Babylon. Those exiled by Babylon were allowed to return about 70 years later as foretold by Jeremiah (Jeremiah 29:10; Daniel 9:2). Then in 70 AD the temple was once again destroyed, but in 1948 AD, about 1,878 years later, the Jewish people were back in the Land and recognized as a nation once again.
The church is given warning about this was well as we see in Revelation 3:14-22. Lukewarmness is not acceptable to the Lord God Almighty. The church truly needs to see itself for what it is— a bunch of wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, naked and needy individuals who need the Lord’s counsel and receive His gold, His clothes and His remedy for sight. The church is to receive His rebuke and discipline. It is then through obedience that the church will have sweet fellowship with its Head! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8Sx_U0Ztr8
Dear Father, may I receive those things from Your Hand that You desire me to have and not be led astray by the things of this world. Oh, may it be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of my Lord Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrSNeHsInt0
