OPPOSITION

“I have told you these things so that you won’t abandon your faith. For you will be expelled from the synagogues, and the time is coming when those who kill you will think they are doing a holy service for God. This is because they have never known the Father or me. —John 16:1-3

Those who have never known the Father and Son have the potential to persecute and kill those who do follow the Lord Jesus Christ. This has been seen down through the ages and Jesus warned His followers that it would happen.

Isn’t it interesting that in the context above that those who kill believers are thinking “they are doing a holy service for God.” This is exactly what was happening in Saul’s life before he was impacted by Jesus and became the Apostle Paul (Acts 8:3; Galatians 1:13; Acts 9:1-31; Acts 26:4-29). He believed he was doing God’s will in trying to destroy those who follow Jesus.

Dear Father, may I be faithful regardless of what comes my way. I know it only happens to fulfill Your plans and purposes. Please help me to discern Your desires and do Your will in the authority of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit.
