THE MIRACLE OF THE INCARNATION
Then, surrounded by the Pharisees, Jesus asked them a question: “What do you think about the Messiah? Whose son is he?” They replied, “He is the son of David.” Jesus responded, “Then why does David, speaking under the inspiration of the Spirit, call the Messiah ‘my Lord’? For David said, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor at my right hand until I humble your enemies beneath your feet.’ Since David called the Messiah ‘my Lord,’ how can the Messiah be his son?” No one could answer him. And after that, no one dared to ask him any more questions. —Matthew 22:41-46

They could not answer Jesus because they did not understand how this could be. The answer is:
John 1:1-4—“In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.”
John 1:14, 18— “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth… No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father, has made him known.”
Romans 1:3-4— “The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line, and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Galatians 4:4— “But when the set time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under the law.”
I John 4:9—“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.”
Marvel of marvels that God would send His eternal Son from the glories of Heaven to this teeny, tiny speck of a planet because of His love for us— His creation in rebellion against Him. How can it be? How great the love of the Father has for us that He would send Jesus to die a wretched death in our place that “that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life!”— “For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance : that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born” (I Corinthians 15:3-8).
Dear Father, thank You for Your awesome love for us. Words cannot truly express the immensity of Your love, but I am so glad to experience it through Jesus and in the Holy Spirit’s power!
