GLAD TO HAVE BEEN BORN!
It would be far better for that man if he had never been born! —Mark 14:21
“I wish I had never been born!” Those who say this today usually say it because something did not go their way or they are being asked to do something they do not want to do. It is a rebellious statement that is made to bring sympathy or to induce hurt. Selfishness is at the forefront when an individual makes this statement.
But the verse above is a statement that Jesus made about the one who would betray Him, Judas Iscariot. In reality though, this statement could be said about any person who does not trust the Lord Jesus. If we truly understand the eternal destiny of people, it would have been better that they had not been born. Those who do not trust Jesus will spend an eternity in hell. I don’t understand how that can be, but God’s Word is clear about that and it is a serious, eternally serious situation.
God has a plan and every person that has been born fits into that plan somehow. I cannot figure all that out. It is He who has “marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands” (Acts 17:26). He has you and me and every person on this planet living the life span He has appointed and has us living where He wants us to live. All this is in His plan to fulfill His purposes. May we be faithful in what He desires of us.
Dear Father, please help me to live a life that is pleasing to You. May I do this out of the gratitude of my heart because of Who You are and all that You have done for me in the Lord Jesus. I am grateful to have been born and to have been born-again!
