OUR MOTIVATION
We remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ. —I Thessalonians 1:3
Brothers and sisters, fellow followers/disciples of Jesus. Is this true of us? Can we be remembered “before our God and Father” for—
- Our work that has been produced by faith
- Our labor that has been prompted by love
- Our endurance that has been by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ
Our faith in God calls us to action. We desire to be lovingly obedient to what He desires us to be and do. It is our love for God and people that prompt us to labor for Him in the works He has created for us to do (Ephesians 2:10). Our endurance to run “the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith’ (Hebrews 12:1-2) is on-going because of being “inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.”
It is interesting in I Corinthians 13:13 that we read “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Our love is eternal, but our faith and hope are only for this life. One day our faith will be sighted, we shall see Him and not need faith anymore! One day our hope to be with Him won’t be needed because we will be with Him! But our love for Him and each other will continue forever! Oh, glorious day! Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
Dear Father, now, may my work for You be the outcome of my faith in You. May I labor out of my love for You, having a healthy perspective of who I am in You and for my love for others. May I endure in this race You have marked out for me, keeping my eyes focused on Jesus who is my hope. Yes, may this be so, Dear Father, by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus, my Lord. And may this be for Your honor and glory and the benefit of many others. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rE_PNUNmw9c&list=RDrE_PNUNmw9c&start_radio=1
