JESUS DIED SO YOU COULD LIVE FOREVER WITH HIM!

Jesus replied, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.  Very truly I tell you, unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.  Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.  Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me. —John 12:23-26

“Now my soul is troubled, and what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour.  Father, glorify your name!”  Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.  Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine.  Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out.  And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”  He said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.  The crowd spoke up, “We have heard from the Law that the Messiah will remain forever, so how can you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this ‘Son of Man’?” —John 12:30-34

There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day.” —John 12:48

Jesus knew His time had come.  He was/is what He said— “Unless a kernel of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds.”  Through His death and resurrection, millions and millions of seeds have been produced which in turn produce more seeds.  Are you a seed that has germinated and is producing many more seeds that keep the DNA to do the same right down to the end of the age? (Matthew 28:18-20).  This is the example that Jesus gave us.  Jesus had twelve seeds to start with.  Eleven germinated and has established His Church right down to this present day.  Now, how will you and I continue that seed producing reality?  To produce seeds, we must die to ourselves and have a focus on the eternal, serve Jesus, follow Jesus and then we will eventually be with Him.  Also, His Father will honor the one who serves His Son!

In the above passage, Jesus was nearing that time when He, “a kernel of wheat” would die and produce many seeds.  This was troubling to Jesus, knowing the kind of death He would die.  But, He said, “What shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour.  Father, glorify your name!”  Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.”  Three times our Father spoke to Jesus from heaven.  Here, at Jesus’ baptism— Matthew 3:17 and on the Mount of Transfiguration— Matthew 17:5; Mark 9:7; Luke 9:5.  In the case above, when Jesus’ Father spoke, “The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him.  Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine.”

Then Jesus went on to say this— “Now is the time for judgment on this world; now the prince of this world will be driven out.  And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”  Jesus “said this to show the kind of death he was going to die.”  He had spoken like this in John 3:14-15— “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.”  Now, Jesus has these words to say to us— There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day.”  If you have rejected Jesus, if you do not accept His Words, they you will be judge by your own words—

“Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.” —Revelation 20:11-15
