BE OBEDIENT OUT OUR LORD GOD ALMIGHTY

But Gideon told them, “I will not rule over you, nor will my son rule over you. The Lord will rule over you.” —Judges 8:23

             This was Gideon’s desire for the Israelites that “The Lord will rule over you.”  And, brothers and sisters, fellow followers of Jesus, is this not what we desire for people as well?  We desire people to know our Lord Jesus and to be obedient to Him!

             I recently heard a story about a pastor who was acting like a dictator, ruling it over the people or as just told his disciples—-

 “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors. But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves. For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.” —Luke 22:25-27

             Followers of Jesus are not to “rule” or “lord it over” the people.  No, we are to be servants, following our Lord’s example.  Leaders in the church are to be servant leaders.  Again, we, as followers/disciples of Jesus, desire that people follow Jesus and are obedient to Him.  And may it be so, Dear Father, that we always point people to Jesus and encourage them, as well as ourselves, to be obedient to Him.  Yes, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Precious Son Jesus.  So be it!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8Sx_U0Ztr8&list=RDo8Sx_U0Ztr8&start_radio=1
