SEEK THE LOST!

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.” —Luke 19:10

Jesus was, according to John 1:1—

  • In the beginning (Genesis 1:1)
  • Was with God (John 1:5; Proverbs 30:4)
  • Was God (John 8:58; Exodus 3:14)

Jesus left the glory of heaven to come to this sin infested planet so that “By His stripes you are healed” (I Peter 2:24).  Healed from what?  Healed from the serpent Satan’s snake bite of sin that took place in Genesis chapter 3.  Yes, “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:14-16).  Truly, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

This is why Jesus came!  He came to 1- seek the lost and 2- save the lost.  What about you and I?  Are we following the example of our Lord to do the same?  Not that we can save anyone, only He can do that.  But we are to bring the message of salvation to people.  Are we seeking them out to share the gospel (Romans 10:13-15; I Corinthians 15:1-4)?  Jesus is the only way to the Father; is the only way of salvation (John 14:6; Acts 4:12).  Are we bringing this message He has given us to others?

Jesus said that “this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14).  He sent us in His authority “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:18-20).  Are we being obedient to what He commanded because “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them” (John 14:21).  Are we loving Him… truly?  May it be so, Dear Father, by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus who has sent us.  Yes, may it be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEbQswNB6Wc&list=RDcEbQswNB6Wc&start_radio=1
